the second album by the slate pipe banjo draggers follows 2005’s seafo od recip es. the songs are mainly improvised around and built up from field recordings, found sounds, recorded incidents and jotted down notes. there are some loose ideas within the album which are based around eyesight, food, communication and personal incidents of the previous two years. these ideas are situated throughout the song titles, artwork, recorded sounds and finished songs. available in a special large size handmade card and khadi paper sleeve.

the inhibitionists
things with wings

the inhibitionists are usually a song based project/virtual band that are based on long distance collaboration wherein one person comes up with a rough starting idea for a piece and then sends it to one or more people who work on things some more until the piece is finished. however, the pieces contained on this album were produced solely by inhibitionists member christian kann.

the pieces are dedicated to and/or try to mimic 18 different birds. they were produced with the aid of various live and field recordings, guitar, recorder, organ, harmonica, a balloon, vacuum cleaner and drum samples all arranged and mixed on a computer. No actual birds were harmed in the recording process.

regarded by bbc radio 3's mixing it programme as one of their favourite alternative music releases of 2006.

a self titled album that is the result of a collaboration between four musicians from london and manchester. the whole album is the result of a long improvised session that took place in Manchester on the 24 september 2005. mixing of the initial recordings took place in the following months in london and Manchester resulting in the finished hour long 8 song album. the equipment used was a Jen sx1000 synthesiser, bass and electric guitar, drums, laptop running ableton live, clarinet, radio, tape recorder, chinese bells and an old microphone. the album is available in a special hand made textured card and translucent paper sleeve.

a recording of a live improvised performance by this Italian duo. the sound made by the audience during the concert can often be heard and this gives an intimacy to the recording, sometimes nearly putting you into the actual space itself. the audience sound compliments the sound made by velcro and adds an interesting extra layer to the music. between them the pair use guitars, rhythms, samples, radio frequencies, effects and noise to create a sound that drifts between industrial noise to ambient riffs, drones and gentle distortion.

this album is a compilation of music made during the 1999-2003 period of manchester based lord mongo’s solo home recordings. all music was recorded and mixed on a 4 track recorder by lord mongo, or tudor plasm, as he was periodically known. an equipment list is printed on the back of the cd and the music and noises produced can be compared to this heat, david byrne and brian eno, cabaret voltaire and flying saucer attack. with free badge.
